Is considered to be part of the “Plasmolen” circle of Dutch painters working around Mook in Limburg. Also his father Gerard sr. as well as his brothers Gerard jr. and Huub are considered to have been part of this circle.

From 1968 to1977, the artist participated in a governmental sposored art programme referred to as the “contraprestatie regeling” (basically, financial support was rendered by the competent Dutch ministry to participating artists, in exchange for quality works of art), and delivered in this context 179 works of art.

 

 

Techniques applied

Pastels, pen drawings, lithographs, aquarel, gouaches and oil painting.

Compositions mainly are landscapes, the quality of which insiders believe not to have been surpassed to date. His paintings of dunes, as well as his studies of trees, with a sometimes surrealistic approach, are particularly famous.

From 1960 to1974, the majority of the winter time was spent in the south of France at a cottage in the French “Provence” region, in a small village called Mison, situated near the village of Sisteron.

From 1974 to1984, most winters were spent in a trailer near Alla Romana.
